Souls of Purity—Novel Todd’s debut! The finished 85,000 word manuscript is undergoing professional edit. A sample is here. Post Apocalypse, when oppression, disease, and death crush all hope and precious little remains to live for, 19-year-old Vree has but one lifeline: her love for Daman. He, alone, sustains her in the dwindling, underground community where twenty-something Elders rule by indisputable Word, the world-killing virus is only beaten back by brutal exposure to Purity’s cleansing rays, and no one reaches 30. Can Vree’s love overcome, with Daman ready to die solely by Purity's touch, the Elders insisting it not wait for that, and Vree given the Word that she must guarantee her love's demise? |

Game Over—Novelette Purchased January 2007. Published in Allegory. YA, sci-fi. Dark. Available for purchase as part of a build-your-own anthology on AnthologyBuilder. An earlier version of this tale won a short story competition in my writer’s guild. If you have an interest in reading this story, let me know. |

Additional WIP Novels Heavens, the wealth of ideas that tend to accumulate in the old journal. A brief rundown… Souls certainly has the opportunity for a sequel or two. Seems like it will become obvious at some point if one or more follow-on treatments is truly warranted. Until that time, we’ll give the other ideas a shot. Todd is researching and outlining a YA, near-term, (slightly) sci-fi tale involving the weather. Specifically, really nasty weather, making for great character struggle and development. Of course, what repertoire would be complete without a YA, fantasy series. Todd has his. But given the glut of these on the shelves, prudence is called for regarding development, so no hurry here. Much more to come. The journal keeps expanding. |

Perfect Soldier-Short Story Purchased January 2007. Published in Electric Spec. Sci-fi. A small nugget about Todd: He really enjoys writing about the Apocalypse and what happens after. |

Additional Short Stories and Novelettes Several are out for consideration. All are sci-fi, with a couple including YA for good measure. I recommend that all authors of longer length works take a stab at a short story in their genre of interest. Why? You’d be amazed at how writing short stories teaches you to economize and stick to the salient point(s) of your plot. You decide if that’s an important aspect of your craft. It is for mine. BTW - if you’re looking for software tools that ease the craft of writing, I would encourage you to browse Spacejock and give the free utilities a try. While there, be sure to peruse the articles on writing. |
